11. Liquid Neutral Coating
In a traditional number plate machine, liquid neutral coating has been the most commonly used finishing method in the license plate industry. This method has been particularly applied in the production of embossed plates. Aside from being an economical finishing method, it also works well when it comes to increasing production rate. In this finishing process, number plate machine operators make use of roll coating machine in order to apply a liquid ink protective coating to the depressed parts of the licensed plate at a rate of two thousand or more number plates in an hourly basis.
Furthermore, liquid neural coating also makes use of a high-end timed feeding system with specialized roll application mechanism in order to coat all the depressed areas in in the most efficient way possible. As a result, the structure alongside with all the inherent features of the plates appears to be more brilliantly created. Also, there are some cases where in the tag numbers are essentially debossed into the license plate while the coating material is applied to the surrounding flat portions of the license plate.
Coating machines also play a very important in the production of number plates. One of the most commonly used coating machines is the Compact Brother R1. It applies coating inks that are solvent based in order to the raised portions of the embossed number plate. In addition to that, this machine has also been tested in the application of water-based as well as curable formulations of number plate coating inks.
Because of work environment concerns, majority of manufacturers of solvent-based plate coatings are forced to make use of high solid formulation. Furthermore, there should also be a highly effective circulation system to operate along with the coating machine to be used. The purpose of this mechanism is to maintain the most commendable viscosity for application. Not only that, this machine is also effective when it comes to assuring a constant flow of thus maintaining the quality of the coating. Also, this unit spares number plate machine operators from the hair-yanking hassles of coating rolls that dry out. Do take note that rolls that dry out has the tendency to stick together thus it can lead to a serious damage to the coating machine. In some cases where in liquid coatings that have high content of VOC are in use, license plate manufactures have the option to employ a Fume Exhaust System which will be augmented with the fume control at the coating unit.
